The university application process is becoming more and more competitive. To have the best chance of a successful application, one should start early - our results show that the more long-term the support, the better. This is because it gives the applicant the time to delve deep into their subject, going beyond their curriculum at school, and developing the intellectual skills required for application success.
At Doxa, we offer a comprehensive long-term programme designed specifically for students aiming to apply to top UK universities like Oxford and Cambridge. This programme helps students navigate the application process with ease, providing thorough preparation at every stage. The pathway programme is at its best as a package of 30 hours, over a period of 6-12 months before the application itself. Each course is based around the Oxbridge tutorial model, allowing the students to develop the intellectual skills which they need to achieve a successful application. It is structured as follows:
Initial Diagnostic:
Mentors assess the student’s academic strengths and weaknesses as well as their subject interests to tailor the programme to them.
Subject Exploration:
In-depth exploration of the subject, focusing on a few specific areas to specialise in, and helping the student develop the skills that universities are looking for.
Personal Statements:
Concept generation, structuring, and proofreading work for personal statements to ensure that they are concise and compelling.
Entrance Tests:
Understanding methodology, key techniques, and core principles to ensure optimum performance.
Interviews:
Learning how to think aloud and articulate complex ideas and arguments about their chosen subject.
